LP Tank Rego Fitting

Post by hiandlotech »

A Rego fitting is a brass fitting that is located on LP fuel line that connect to the LP tank. It’s brass so that it can no be conducted by an electrical short, they may leak but easily removed and replaced, when replacing there should be sealant or Teflon tape on the thread to the tank. When replacing Rego fitting, unscrew Rego from the tank, Turn the truck on until it dies to let out any pressurized LP inside system, you can verify all LP is out by Having gloves on and pressing the center check valve on the the Rego fitting, if it moves no pressure is present, if it feels stiff there is still pressure inside and you will need to turn the truck on again until all the pressure is released. Once that’s done, using two crescent wrenches, or proper size wrenches, remove the Rego fitting leaving a threaded end, apply sealant or white Teflon and re-install Rego fitting.
